This year we have taken several trips down in the US to visit two of our sons who are playing hockey down there. We are not big TV watchers, but there have been a few times in hotels where we have turned one on. What we have noticed is a lot of drug ads for all kinds of different conditions. We haven’t been surprised that they are on (we know their broadcasting rules are different), but what has been surprising is how each an every ad promises easy and miraculous life improvement and happiness… at them same time as they list off a crazy list of side effects that if you listen, inevitably includes auto-immune disease, cancer and death… and some death due to suicide!
I have to tell you, every single time my wife, my sons or I see an ad we are absolutely astonished that anyone would even consider the possibility of taking it. But… people do take it. Why? Because they are desperate! Now let’s make this personal… many of your people, the ones you love and care about are so desperate they have turned to pills (that only cover up symptoms and carry massive and dangerous side effects) for help. It is true.
Here is something to consider – many of you will understand:
Do you think someone suffers from headaches because of a lack of Tylenol or Aspirin in their system?
Do you think someone suffers high blood pressure because they lack beta-blockers or water pills?
Do you think someone suffers from depression because they lack adequate amounts of Prozac or any other anti-depressant drug? (just so you know – the theory of a “chemical imbalance” was presented by the makers of Prozac, but never accepted by the scientific community and in fact, it was proven to be wrong… but they pushed in on society anyway with a clever marketing program through the medical profession.)
So this handout is about not taking the easy road. Taking medication is the easy road, but putting medication into your body always carries consequences, and the consequences are always cumulative. Why do you think the average Canadian senior is on a dozen medications? Trade one problem for another, which causes another problem, which causes another!
So, the easy road is not a good road, but what does that leave? A tougher road, but a good road that addresses the cause, and not just the symptoms. It means eating a clean diet. It takes work, but it’s worth it. It means exercising vigorously and regularly. It takes work, but it’s worth it. It means arriving for an adjustment regularly, it takes work, but it’s worth it. It means trusting the amazing potential God put into your body to heal and take care of itself regardless of the circumstances around it. It takes work, but it is worth it. It means not letting your mind run with worry. It takes work, but it’s worth it.
And, you are worth it. And, so are the people around you. So, STOP TRADING ONE PROBLEM FOR ANOTHER! Take Compassion cards out of this place and get your people away from the pills and here where they can get some real help!
God Bless,
Dr. Brad and the New Life Team
ps – Prozac multiplies your risk of committing suicide by 14 times… not even close to worth it!
