At the begining when you first came to see us there were problems in your spine . . . I have yet to meet someone who hasn’t been under corrective chiropractic care for an extended period who doesn’t have subluxation! You came to us with misalignments, restrictions, imbalances, muscle guarding, swelling and choking pressure on your spinal cord. Depending on how that pressure affected your spinal cord, you came in with corresponding symptoms. There was a guy that came in last week with a couple of decades of lower back pain. We know spinal cord in the lower back controls your legs and all of your lower abdominal organs, so of course he had pain down one of his legs, he had problems with his bladder, sexual dysfunction and poor digestion. When you step back and look at things there is a lot of simplicity in what happens to us when we have pressure on the spinal cord.
Our job is also simple. . . but it is not very often easy! Correct the subluxations – restore the misalignments, which allows the imbalances to become more balanced (over time), which eliminates the muscle guarding and swelling and together this removes the choking on your spinal cord.
So, why isn’t it easy? Often the problems you come to us with are not new (even if they feel new to you). Often they have been there years or even decades. Here’s how it starts – you have a trauma (fall, slip, crash, twist, sit too long at a computer, look down at your phone/game far too often, etc.) The event misaligns one of your vertebrae. Picture a seven year old having a good old fashioned wipe out from a bike (although these are happening less often due to hand held games – give me the bike, and even the wipe out anyday!!) They get picked up, dusted off, tears wiped away and with a loving hug they go on their way. Except for maybe a scrape, they look okay and they feel okay, but often a vertebrae gets knocked out of place. For years they look okay and feel okay, but damage is forming at that spot (6-10 times faster than normal), but not only that, the abnormal movement and position of that vertebrae is affecting other vertebrae and other parts of your spine. The result is that you have the subluxation (which is in itself bad) and you also have compensations. Over time these compensations become subluxations themselves and cause imbalance, damage and choking on the spinal cord.
So you see, when you arrive in our office we are often working with layers of imbalance, damage and misalignment in your spine. Beyond the condition of your spine, life is full of adversity. Sitting, lifting, twisting, gaming, sleeping funny, and stress, just to name a few. If you put all of these factors together it will make sense when I say, “As you go through spinal correction in our office there will most likely be some bumps along the way. As we correct your spine and work through the layers of problems we can adjust and correct one vertebrae, and have another vertebrae quite frankly not like the change – and it will tell you! In fact, it is for this reason that we have had people quit care after their first couple of adjustments. The changes to their spine were good and right, but they had symptoms because of the layers. Their have been many more who have stuck it through, even when they had more symptoms, trusting the corrective process and they have walked into the life changing results they came for.
When it comes to restoring your health it really is a battle. It takes effort, time, trust and perserverance and we want you know that we are with you, right here battling along side you.
God Bless,
