My name is Dr. Brad Norman and at our clinic here in Barrie we have been working with and helping children and adults with neuro-developmental disorders for more than 20 years. Our Focused Approach: Evaluation & Care
We are focused on correcting the underlying root cause of the issue, a poorly functioning nervous system. The goal of our initial evaluation is to determine this underlying cause of the patients symptoms and create a strategy to correct it. To do this we start with an in-depth history and symptom taking process, followed by a thorough neurological and spinal exam which often includes full spine digital x-rays. These x-rays allow us to see spinal alignment and determine if poor neurological communication is being expressed in abnormal curvatures, position and postures, including scoliosis.
One of the primary reasons for our results is that our patients (and their parents) are highly educated on our process and expectations for care. Our second appointment provides this knowledge as well as results and recommendations (if the patient is considered a good candidate) for spinal reconstructive care in our office. Each individual with neuro-developmental challenges has unique symptoms, so care plans are personalized and specific to meet the needs of the individual and provide optimal results.

"Chiropractic Has Helped With My Son’s Learning Disability"
My son was diagnosed with a severe language based learning disability two years ago. Before starting chiropractic care my son had great difficulty with the following: Focusing and concentrating on his school work, low self-esteem, reading (he could not read), sitting and listening to instruction, aggressive and anti-social behaviour, retaining any information that was given to him by his teachers (he had very little retention).
To sum up, academically, my son would just shut down and withdraw himself mentally from his peers and his teachers. He called himself “stupid” and he felt like he couldn’t learn anything. He would often say to me “Mommy, why can’t I remember anything?”
My son has been receiving chiropractic adjustments, faithfully, for one year now, he is no longer four whole grade levels behind.
My son goes to school everyday happy and confident now because he is able to retain what he is being taught. He can sit through any lesson and he feels good because he’s not all “fuzzy”. He can now read short story books, write in sentences, put stories in order, spell with some assistance, identify letters, numbers, and use a key board. He is anxious to learn now and most importantly, my son has confidence in himself and wants to learn. It’s not such a struggle to teach him anymore. He continues to progress every day.
My son has also seen a psychologist for two years now and he just had his latest assessment and I advised his psychologist that he has a great support system at his school and he has been placed in a learning class. All the recommendations that the psychologist put in place we have followed. I told her about my son’s chiropractic treatments and she was very happy to hear that the care my son has received from Dr. Brad has been very successful.
In conclusion of our meeting, the psychologist indicated that she would very much like to meet with Dr. Brad to further discuss the benefits of chiropractic care and (she is now a patient too!)

My wife and I have a son who was diagnosed with autism when he was two years old. We have tried many different types of treatments and therapies some of which have helped and some haven’t. The most recent treatment that we have tried is chiropractic treatment at New Life Chiropractic. At first we were a little skeptical.
We decided to start Daniel’s adjustments and after a few weeks saw some noticeable differences. He was talking a lot clearer. He was also asking for things and was listening a lot better. Daniel now interacts a lot more with other children and his sister.

Before seeing Dr. Brad, our son was more in his own little world. He has been diagnosed with PDD or Pervasive Developmental Disorder or Autism.
Since seeing Dr. Brad, our son has become more focused. He is able to complete tasks such as reading, writing and math problems. Before seeing Dr. Brad I feared that he wouldn’t even learn his letter sounds, now he is reading at or above his grade level. He used to play on his own when in groups and now he is quite social and even carries on complete conversations with adults as well as other children. Before seeing Dr. Brad, our son had a limited vocabulary with lots of gibberish and could only be understood by his immediate family, now he can talk to nearly anyone he meets and they can understand him.
In the last year, since seeing Dr. Brad, we have had many people comment on what a difference they have seen in our son. He has become more involved, more social and much easier to understand. Our son finds learning new things much easier than he did before. He doesn’t get as frustrated and withdrawn as he did a year ago before we saw Dr. Brad.
We are so thankful for the help Dr. Brad has given our son. Our son is too!
"I Felt Smart Today"
Some of the most wonderful words that ever came out of our 13 year old’s mouth were, “I felt smart today.”
We don’t know what learning disability our son has and we really don’t care. Our son could be high functioning autism or non-verbal learning disability. We do know that he doesn’t process information like other 13 year olds and never has. He reads at an adult level but is a minimum of 4 years behind in math. With other subjects it depends on his interest in the subject.
We have seen different Doctors, Pediatricians and Specialists. He has taken many different educational tests, x-rays, scans and tried several different prescriptions, diets and supplements.
Within 3 weeks of care with Dr. Brad our son started functioning better. We could see the fog clearing with his thoughts. He was becoming the confident young man we knew was in there. Seeing him with the ability to walk with his shoulders back, head held high and focus with confidence is wonderful. He is maturing rapidly and able to converse with ease. He even asked a young lady out for lunch!
Thanks for giving the gift of clarity to a young man with a purpose. Now he will be able to accomplish that purpose with much more ease.

Before coming to the Chiropractor our son’s main concerns were with autism and mismanaged behaviour as well as speech problems for which he had received no previous treatment.
He has been seeing the Chiropractor for about 2 months now and we have noticed that his speech has improved tremendously! He is able to communicate and express himself better. His behaviour is also more controllable. He has become calm and more social with other people.
