STEP UP… AND BE BRILLIANT!

Day by day I get to hear lots of stories. Many of the stories are ones that move people the wrong direction and they wish they could do differently (like some of this silly things we do to get ourselves hurt and add to our problems), but some of the stories are of people doing great and brilliant things to move themselves towards their dreams and a brilliant life. I am blessed to share one of those stories here!

There is a lady who has come to see me for years. She is one of those beautifully caring people who you just want to see do well and have things go their way. For years now I have seen her have ups and downs and talked to her while we have adjusted her in the office. She often shares her concerns for her friends and family and the people she has been caring for, but the last little while she has been sharing about what she has been doing. It started back in the winter time when the snow was mounting up high and she was worried about it backing up and leaking water into her Mom’s basement when things started to melt.

It was what she did then that was brilliant… instead of continuing to worry and feel helpless about the impending damage and expenses, she saw an opportunity to help and serve, so she started shoveling to make a path along the side of the house so that when the melt did come, things could drain away. There was a lot of shoveling involved and at first she was really sore (just like hitting heavy workouts), but as more and more snow fell and she shoveled it each time, she started to feel stronger. After a while she started helping out at the street as well, shoveling the end of the driveway where the plow kept filling in. There was a lot more shoveling involved and it caused her to be really sore (just like hitting heavy workouts), and after a while she got used to that too. Eventually, after a couple or a few months finally the melt happened, and… the water drained away and none went in the house!

But then we had an ice storm, so the outdoor workouts and helping and serving others turned to branch clean up. She spent hours and days and now weeks cleaning up the mess… at first she was sore (but not as bad as she thought she might be… the shoveling had prepared her and made her stronger).

After months of heavy, almost daily workouts (with little complaint) this is the report of how this brilliantly bright lady is doing:

She is much stronger, much more mobile, has lost a bunch of weight, feels great about herself and she is far more prepared to do whatever is necessary to help out the people she loves and cares about next time problems come around – way to go Francis!!!!

We are so proud of you, and have been truly blessed to watch you step into the full out you – the sky’s the limit!

PS – you should start thinking about where you can throw in a good outdoor workout and help out the people around you – it’s good for you!
