It is critical that you have the opportunity to become Super – Healthy, so here is something you need to know: Whatever you put on your skin gets absorbed into your body, Ie. don’t put it on your skin, unless you are willing to eat it. Cancer rates are soaring, the Canadian Cancer Society now says 1 in 2 Canadians will develop cancer. Yet… people continue to slather on sunscreens loaded with known and powerful carcinogens!
Adjusting your spine and getting the power flowing from above down, inside and out is good, but... if you pickle, preserve and bath your body in chemicals every day, it may not be enough to ensure a life of abundant health. So, today I am talking specifically about sunscreens, but you will also want to examine your skin moisturizer, hair products, sunscreen, soap, deodorants, etc.
Here is a list of some of the most commonly used dangerous chemicals that actually accelerate skin cancer, and get into your bloodstream where they disrupt hormonal balance: Oxybenzone, OMC (octylmethoxycinnamate), Octocrylene, Octinoxatre, Octisalate, Avobenzone and Homosalate.
The fact is, safe sun exposure every day is actually one of the best things you can do for your health. Some safe sunlight exposure every day has been shown to help protect against as many as 16 different types of cancer. Once your skin turns the lightest shade of pink (especially if you’re fair skinned), it’s time to get out of the sun. Sunburn provides no benefit and is never good for your skin.
The best strategy to protect yourself from the sun is actually not a sunscreen at all, it’s wearing light clothing or getting into the shade. Cotton clothing provides about SPF 15, in other words, you will get about 15-times your skin’s normal protection from the sun wherever you cover your body with clothing. Just remember that even with protective clothing on your body, it’s still important to monitor your skin for the telltale signs of burning.
Safer Sunscreen Alternatives Options do exist to provide safe protection from the sun during times when you may not be able to control the amount of sun exposure you are likely to receive. For instance, if you take your kids to the beach, you might just be in direct sunlight all day. To get natural sun protection from both UVA and UVB rays, you will want to use a sunscreen product that contains the active ingredients of titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. Also, you should know that just pure coconut oil provides an SPF of 15! You have to reapply after going in the water or if it’s so hot you are sweating lots, but it is much more natural… and actually good for your skin!
GOOD NEWS Thanks to people who care and have created consumer research groups, you are now able to see exactly how your sunscreen rates for safe ingredients and efficacy. Check out your sunscreen on the Environmental Working Groups website here: www.ewg.org/sunscreen/best-sunscreens, or download the YUKA app to your phone and simply scan bar codes in the store to find out the truth!
