Think back to when you were a kid. Remember those times with friends or brothers, sisters or cousins when you played tag and hide and seek and all kinds of other games? Remember running and playing and climbing trees and everything else that could be climbed? Then remember in the winter time… snow ball fights, running up and down hills with toboggans and building snow forts? What about sports when you were a kid? Baseball, soccer, hockey, basketball, swimming, skiing and many more. As I type this handout there are tons of fond memories flooding back in!
Science has now proven beyond all doubt that your brain develops primarily from body movement, not from reading or writing or learning languages or math, but almost entirely from movement. It is why movement is so very important when we are kids… so that your brain develops. It’s like nourishment for the developing brain in our youth. (This is also why it is so critically terrible that our average preteen in North America spends 6 hours and teenager 8+ hours per day on a handheld device). Every joint gives feedback to the brain and helps it to develop and especially the joints of the spine, and even more especially the joints in the upper part of your neck, so… restrict the motion there because of a subluxation, and you miss out on a whole lot of brain food. i.e. Get the kids checked for subluxations!!!
But, what about this? What if you were the kid who couldn’t run because it hurt your back or your legs? Go back to all those fun memories of playing when you were a kid and imagine being the young guy or girl who sat on the sidelines… kind of takes the fun out of the memories doesn’t it? Sadly we have a ton of kids who sit on the sidelines these days, some because they are engrossed in their cell phone – bad choice, but at least it’s their choice, but other kids are just in pain and don’t want it to hurt anymore than they already do.
GREAT NEWS!! One of our brilliantly bright young people no longer needs to sit on the sidelines! Last week Penelope let us know that her headaches are gone and that her back and legs feel so much better that she can run and play again. She also added that she wants to start playing sports and get back to cross country running (which the back pain had stopped her from doing before she started getting adjusted). So, this is a shout out to her Dad Corey, who brought her in and encouraged her every step of the way as she received her adjustments (Penelope was very nervous at the beginning 🙂 )
This handout is also a call for you to remember back to the kids who sat on the sidelines when you were young… but much more importantly to consider the ones who are doing it now. Our community is full of kids who have to sit on the sidelines because of problems with their spine. Why? Because absolutely no one is checking them… unless they come here or to another chiro. They used to do scoliosis checks in all the schools, but no more. The only way spinal problems are being caught in kids is because of good parents like Corey who know what is best and want it for their kids. So, I’ll say it again, get the kids in here and get them checked!
God Bless,
