What is Fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition characterized by pain, fatigue and multiple tender points. These tender points are typically found around the spine, shoulders and hips. Sleep disturbances, general stiffness, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety and other symptoms may also be components of this disorder.

According to the medical profession, the precise cause of fibromyalgia is unknown, and because many of the symptoms can mimic other diseases, this condition can be hard to diagnose medically. Other symptoms which can occur are constipation or diarrhea, headache, difficulty concentrating, and tingling in the hands or feet.

Standard treatment for this condition is simply aimed at controlling symptoms, however, many patients who suffer with fibromyalgia have literally been given there lives back through chiropractic!

“I’ve been seeing Dr Brad for about a year now. I had fibromyalgia for 10 years before coming to New Life and was in constant whole body pain. I didn’t have much rotation in neck, but now can turn neck both ways with no problem. It didn’t happen over night, but I actually have days now without any pain at all! That’s a miracle for me, as just getting out of bed was hard for me at one point. I was hesitant to come here for fears of making it worse, however, it’s been great and I just want to say – Thank you!” Teresa

The nervous system controls all the function of your body, so even systemic disorder like fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, etc. can be corrected through spinal reconstructive chiropractic. In fact, in a study published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics, 60% of participants who underwent a course of chiropractic care showed significant reductions in pain intensity and improvement in fatigue and sleep quality.

Most of you know people who suffer from this condition, even close family members. They do not need to continue suffering. It’s time to give them a compassion card (and a copy of this handout) and get them in here!

God Bless,
